Leave the default skin alone. Create a new skin, and have the default skin as the parent skin. If you create new buttons, create a new folder for these buttons, and change the path to these buttons in the skin.
You can create as many new skins as you want. If you leave the default skin as the parent, you will never have to install hacks on any of them......unless, you want a hack for a specific skin.
