Thanks for the invitation Mike.
Project 1
I need help on two similar logos. You can view what we currently: Website Logo (http://www.skywarnforum.org/sneakpeak) and Forum Logo (http://www.skywarnforum.org/forums).
(The site is currently being redesigned and when published will be the located at www.skywarn.org.)
The website logo needs to read either: National SKYWARN™ Website or NATIONAL SKYWARN™ WEBSITE in the same style it is written in now, which ever looks better.
The forum logo needs to read either: National SKYWARN™ Forum or NATIONAL SKYWARN™ FORUM, again which ever looks better.
Project 2
Really simple - The Skywarn logo on the right at www.skywarnforum.org/sneakpeak needs to have a TM added to it.
Now, if you guys really want to get crazy you're more than welcome to design a whole new set of logos for the site(s). In the very near future the 'sneakpeak' site will be the main site and the forum will be a part of it. The only stipulation is that the 'Skywarn Eye' has to be part of the logo, must be tagged with a TM, and that SKYWARN must be in all caps and tagged with a TM as well.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Do you have the font that is currently used in your logo? Do you have the .psd files for the banner and skywarn image?
Are you planning on keeping the logo and the skywarn eye seperate(two images), or would you like them combined into one banner?
Do you have a size preference for the new logo?

No idea on the font used, but you can download the psd files at www.skywarnforum.org/vbcrew. I'm not sure which file will work for you as I'm unable to view psd files. I do know that the images don't have the gradient look like they do now. This was done by someone else.
I do not have a psd of the 'skywarn eye'. Sorry.
At this time two seperate images is fine because it floats better that way. However, I have no objections to a completely new banner as long as it has the traditional skywarn 'eye' in it and a TM next to Skywarn.
The current banner demensions for the site homepage is 815x114. The width must remain the same but height can vary if you decide on a whole new banner.

Ron is our graphics guy. I dabble around with photoshop just a bit. He are two skywarn logos with the TM. The .gif has a transparent back ground behind the tm.
Ron will probably do a couple of other versions of these, and do the logo.
I dabbled in another complete logo.... I figured the first one Mike took care of :)
Looking at it from here.... Looks like it might be better if I continued the White/Black down... instead of changing the from black to white ?????
Added another one.... I'm not intending to mess with the original logo, just messin around.... (adding a "TM" is too easy *grins)
OK... added one more.
Still something not right about my logo's.... Here's another version of your logo.
If the original version is the one you want (with the 'TM' of course) I'll need to remake it.
I notice you have a drop shadow on the black portion of the logo. Every time you save an image it reduces it's resolution, and you get artifacts from surrounding colors... You can see them in the white portion of the logo. You'll need an original to add to your board.
Anyway, I've added a couple of forum banners as well. Just to give us a starting point... One with some "wind" and one without.

Is there a special way to d/l these logos? Right-click + save as works for the logos, but the banners remain small.
Thoughts?
If you use those images you have "Saved As" they will be degraded by a small, but noticeable margin. Take a look at those you have saved, and those in my zipped files.... You'll see a difference in clarity.
The png's are without a background, the jpg's have a background. Most all browsers now support png's. You might test them on IE5. I believe that is the only one in question.......(*he says leaving room for error)
Edited:
It appears I cannot attach 'RAR' files.... at this time. Check back when Mike makes the adjustments to allow rar files.

I added rar to allowed attachments, and created a .gif for it.
What zipped files?
It is an rar file and Ron could not attach it. You will need winrar to extract it.

Right, but what I'm asking is, I don't see a place to d/l any rar file.

Nice work, but a few little details needed to be fixed.
On the forum banner with the wind (very cool BTW), its Skywarn ('n' at the end, not a 'm'), and can you do all caps with a TM at the end of Skywarn so it reads: NATIONAL SKYWARN™ FORUM with the URL underneath, and then how about one of the main site which would read: NATIONAL SKYWARN™ WEBSITE, with the wind logo, but no URL underneath?
You guys are doing great and I'll be sure to do a nice write up when it's all said and done.

What... ? You don't like the name of my "New" Website? *grins.
I'll make the changes... give me a few minutes.... bbiab
Check these out m8... By all means, post any changes.
If you need some major changes we can hook up on MSN.
If so, PM me your MSN addy, I'll temporarily add you to my list. Might be easier than making a bunch of posts ;)
I see a mistake already... I've got the 'TM' in the wrong place.... brb
Here is the forums banner split up for a fluid board.
There is a 'left, 'mid', and 'right'.
Once you get the code/banners placed, post back here. I'd like to make sure all is well.
Also, since you are using an #ffffff color for your background I only added the jpg's.
==============================
Mike, looking at chimpie's banner (on the site) it should probably be fluid. I made the proper jpg's (attached).
Can you post the code to make it work?
The proper code depends on what vb version he is using. It looks like 3.6.8. What versrion are you using chimpie?

Thanks.
Upload the fluid banner parts to the smoothred/misc folder and try this code.
<!-- logo -->
<a name="top"></a>
<table border="0" width="$stylevar[outertablewidth]" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center">
<tr>
<td style="background-image:url('$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/leftborder.gif'); background-repeat:repeat-y;" height="100%"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/leftborder.gif" border="0" alt="" /></td>
<td valign="top" width="$stylvar[outertablewidth]" class="page">
<br />
<table border="0" width="$stylevar[outertablewidth]" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center">
<tr>
<td align="left" width="100%">
<table width="97%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
<td width="443" height="114" align="left" valign="top"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/forum_left.jpg" width="443" height="114" alt="" /></td>
<td width="100%" height="114" align="center" valign="top"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/forum_mid.jpg" width="100%" height="114" alt="" /></td>
<td width=349" height="114" align="right" valign="top"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/forum_right.jpg" width="349" height="114" alt="" /></td>
</tr>
</table>
</tr>
</table>
<!-- /logo -->
<!-- content table -->
$spacer_open
$_phpinclude_output
EDIT------
Changed code to new code.

Worked just as it should. What would I add to bring the logo in a little off of each side? Sort of lining it up with forum sections? (did that make sense?)

I understand what you are talking about. There is a line that runs down the right side. Was that there before the code change?

Wow. I didn't even see that. LOL So, umm, yeah, that needs to be fixed. LOL
But I was talking about was... See the menu bar area. Now see how the header banner sticks out from each side. I'd like to have the header banner line p with the menu area and the rest of the sections.
Edit: weird thing is that bar on the right hand side is not there on the main page of the forum.

Ron, things are progressing nicely, but the banner reads "National Skywarn Website" for the forum. Website should be Banner. Can you fix the 'forum_left" image?
Thanks!

Thanks Mike and Ron for the hard work you did on my logos. I have received a lot of compliments on them. I'll be doing a little write up about your site in the upcoming days.
